Carl Farrington founded and leads Farrington Development LLC, a Western North Carolina technology development company with experience spanning web development, digital publishing, software platforms, artificial intelligence, automation, agent-based systems, and emerging internet technologies.
In his own words, describing the arc of that work:
“Over the last thirty years we built websites, platforms, social networks, cloud services, and now artificial intelligence systems. Almost every generation of technology has required the human to move into somebody else's system. Project Heliosphere asks a different question: What happens when the system moves around the human?”
That question is the premise behind Farrington Development's current initiative, Project Heliosphere — early-stage research into a portable, human-owned digital identity, built on open protocols, with permissions the individual controls rather than any single platform or AI provider.
