ASHEVILLE, N.C., September 3, 2026. Farrington Development LLC today announced the relaunch of My Virtual Time Capsule (myvtc.com), a service first introduced in 2004 that lets a person record the moments of their life, write letters and messages for the future, and have them carried forward and delivered on the dates and milestones they choose. The new MyVTC is live now. A capsule is free to open and stays free for the life of the member.
The 2004 version did not work. By its founder's own account it was a failure, and the reasons were the limits of its era rather than the idea. Storing photos and video was expensive, and most households were still on connections too slow to upload them. The people with the most to say, older adults, were largely not online. There were no smartphones in pockets and no QR codes on keepsakes, so there was no simple way to connect a physical object to a story. And there was no dependable infrastructure to compose a message with help, or to hold it and deliver it reliably years or decades later.
Every one of those barriers has since fallen. Cloud storage is cheap and abundant. Older adults now carry phones and tablets and use them every day. A QR code on a photo frame, a wedding album, or a headstone can open a capsule in one tap. Scheduled, encrypted delivery is standard engineering. MyVTC was rebuilt from the ground up on that foundation.
"The first MyVTC was a dismal failure. I have no problem saying that," said Carl Farrington, Founder and Principal Engineer of Farrington Development LLC. "We could describe it in 2004, but nothing existed to deliver it. The idea never needed fixing. It needed the world to catch up. This time there is nothing in the way, so the capsule is free, and it is yours for life."
What the relaunched MyVTC includes:
The Life Line
Each member's capsule opens as a single-screen, cinematic timeline of their life. Moments sit at their true positions in time, with photos, video, voice notes, and the story behind each one. A visitor steps through it moment by moment, or lets it play.
The Wish Ledger
Letters, recordings, and instructions tied to a future date or a milestone, such as a grandchild's eighteenth birthday or the morning of a wedding, held and delivered as written.
Memory Marks
QR codes that connect physical keepsakes to the recorded story behind them. A member can flag one greeting, audio or video, to play first whenever their code is scanned.
Sealed and Witnessed
Encrypted custody for letters and predictions, with a verifiable record of when each was sealed.
Built for everyone, seniors first
Large targets, plain language, and linear flows are the base design, not a setting. MyVTC installs as an app on any phone, tablet, or desktop.
The free plan includes 10 moments, 2 videos, and 250 MB of storage, with no time limit. Members who want more room can move to Plus ($9 a month), Premium ($29 a month), or a one-time Lifetime plan ($790) that keeps Premium features for the life of the capsule. Example capsules are open to the public at myvtc.com so visitors can see a finished Life Line before creating their own.
MyVTC is a service of Farrington Development LLC.
